Today Carnaby is a top London destination for fashion and lifestyle, known for flagship brands and independent boutiques. Discover many 60’s inspired in-store activities throughout the weekend including complimentary 60’s Americana snacks, drinks and music at Hilfiger Denim who will be recreating the atmosphere of the first ever Hilfiger store, Lee Jeans will host an archive show of their 1960's denim fashion with live music. Van's will be customising shows for customers, just like when they opened the first store in California in 1966. Visit Fred Perry in the Newburgh Quarter to view their archives of garments from the 60's.
There will also be live DJ's playing 60's tunes in-store at Stromboli's Circus, Ben Sherman, Merc, The Face, and Sherry's.
Rumour has it that the concept for the Woodstock festival was conceived in Carnaby in what is now La Trouvaille in Newburgh Street, so if your name is Jimi or Janis you will be treated to a complimentary glass of Champagne. Just round the corner at The White Horse on Newburgh Street or The Clachan on Kingly Street will host 60's discos and a raffle. To finish of a great evening, you can get on down at Zebrano on Ganton Street.

The Beauty Lounge in Kingly court will be home to Miss Dress who will be offering free style advise. Get transformed into a psychedelic chick or a Twiggy style siren whilst picking up make-up tips for that wide eyed look that are synonymous with the 60's.
Visit one of the free pop up exhibitions in the area including Sorry You Missed The 60’s – a unique collection of photography by Philip Townsend including Twiggy, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones – Philip will be signing his new book throughout the weekend. Art Vinyl in Kingly Court will exhibit iconic album cover artwork from the 60’s including The Rolling Stones. Zero Cool will feature 60's inspired art in Marshall Street. London College of Fashion in Carnaby Street will have live performances in the window celebrating the iconic hairstyles and fashion of legendary Mary Quant. Barnardo's boutique will be making an appearance on Newburgh Street will 60's fashion.
Sing your favourite 60’s songs at the Sing London piano on Carnaby Street at various times throughout the weekend. A pianist will play the tune, all you have to do is sing along from one of the many song sheets including favourites ‘Hey Jude’ or ‘Dedicated Follower of Fashion’.
Live bands will entertain the crowds with go-go dancers from the Whoopee Club www.thewhoopeeagency.com on a stage which will be set up at the corner of Carnaby Street and Broadwick Street with funky music inspired by the sixties. On Saturday the London band Connett will be playing their true modernist sound from 1pm. They have been recording in Paul Weller’s recording studio since he listened to their debut mini-album Waging War On The Obvious. Alternative punk band Red Track will be playing from 3pm until 4pm. Hailing from Southend, their sound has been described as the love child of Cheryl Cole and the Clash front man Joe Strummer. Taking the music into the evening from 5pm will be The Small Fakers, tribute band to music legends The Small Faces. Having played at The Isle of Wight festival and several Small Faces conventions. Original Small Faces member late Ronnie Lane’s brother Stan has said: “For those of you that never saw The Small Faces live, this is as close as you’re going to get.” Sunday will be hosted by Carnaby's favourite band Imperial Leisure who will play their punk mod-ska tunes and will attract a following of fans both established and new.
To wind down after a day of reminiscing, Aint Nothing But Blues Bar will host an open mic session on Saturday and will have a blues band jamming the night away on Sunday. Zebrano on Ganton Street is donning a Mary Quant mini skirt and stepping back in time.
Between 5pm and 9pm Zebrano will be spinning the best sounds of the sixties and offering its customers 20% off. For a few hours at least we will be able to forget the worries of the Noughties and party like its 1966! Grooovvy!
