Summer of Love Music Festival
Get ready, set, go to the Summer of Love Music Festival in Carnaby on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th June. This free event features a stage for up and coming as well as established musical talent. Bands and DJs will also perform in some stores, making shopping a fun and unusual experience. The weekend will include go go dancers, exhibitions and live performances. The event is part of the 50th anniversary of Carnaby Street – 1960 is the year Carnaby began to swing, and the event is a nod to the area’s music heritage, which includes Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Small Faces and The Kinks who wrote about Carnaby Street in their 1966 hit ‘Dedicated Follower of Fashion’.
LIVE MUSIC AND PERFORMANCES
On the Carnaby stage, see an exclusive performance by Hair the Musical on Saturday 5th June at 12.30pm. Just arrived in the West End from Broadway, this curly, shaggy, gleaming, steaming, wonderful world of hair spreads the love in Carnaby. Let The Sun Shine In.
Bands performing on the Carnaby stage throughout the weekend include Connett, RedTrack, The Small Fakers, The Last Grand, The Universal and solo artist Eliza Doolittle.
Live music in stores: On Saturday 5th June new indie band 1913 will be playing in Gola Classics and acoustic band Graffiti 6 will be performing in Blaqua on Newburgh Street. Live bands will also be performing in Replay and Diesel on Saturday 5th. DJs will perform in Aqua, Bexy Lady, Bolongaro Trevor, Eastpak, Savage London, Stromboli’s Circus and 55DSL. Liberty will have a stage outside their shop on Saturday 5th June, featuring new solo artist Sophie Delila. Try your hand at Lazy Oaf’s themed karaoke in Foubert’s Place on both Saturday and Sunday from 2-4.30pm each day. In Foubert’s Place get your Twiggy lashes at Pixi and in Kingly Court, Harriet Sanders has a limited edition leather bag, stamped with iconic 60s photographs by Philip Townsend. In the Newburgh Quarter men’s tailors Social Suicide has created a contemporary cotton tie in red, blue and white and Blaqua has designed a one-off 60s inspired paisley shirt. Men’s accessories brand Peckham Rye has designed a silk tie in 60s inspired fabric and iconic tee brand Savage London has created a limited edition design in both mens and womens styles. Creative Beadcraft has designed a limited edition Swarovski necklace.
Discover a variety of in-store activities in the area over the weekend including a San Francisco beach party at Benefit and 60s make-overs complete with Twiggy lashes will be available at Pixi and Make Up Store. Free tea tasting will take place at Camellia World Teas in Kingly Court and original Lambretta scooters will be showcased outside of the Lambretta store on Carnaby Street.

Enjoy an alfresco BBQ and outside bar on Saturday and Sunday at Zebrano, BBQ and wine tasting on the terrace at Carnaby Burger Co and food and drink sampling at The White Horse. Sacred will be serving traditional New Zealand food with 60s tunes.

Visit the London College of Fashion exhibition at 57 Carnaby Street. Acclaimed 60s photographer Philip Townsend will be showcasing his original images of 60s icons including Twiggy, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones and Ossie Clark.
TREKSTOCK
Carnaby is proud to be working with music and fashion charity Trekstock - raising awareness and support for young people with cancer. This year Trekstock announced its new partnership with Cancer Research UK and first patron Mark Ronson.
