Ideally, creating a dress takes about four months. Though if you need it sooner, we’ll always see what we can do. We pride ourselves on a very relaxed atmosphere, shutting the shop for each fitting and giving you our full attention for as long as you need. Pop in to the shop and have a look at the vintage shapes. We’ll advise on what we think would flatter you and suit your personality. Or, if you have a picture of what you want, bring it along. We’ll be able to give you an idea of cost in a few days, which we’ll confirm once we’ve talked about fabrics.
A shop full of beautiful, hand-picked vintage accessories
A place for beautiful evening bags and costume jewellery, including bracelets, earrings and stunning necklaces. We have a wonderful range of brooches which can also be used as unique hair decorations. Not to mention all kinds of tiaras, hats and headpieces. We also offer a choice of shawls, wraps, shrugs, boas and boleros to complete your vintage look. If you’ve already found your dress, let us help you find the perfect accesssories to complement it. Even if you’re having a fitting somewhere else, we can arrange for you to have a selection of beautiful things to try with your dress.
Laura and Emma became shopkeepers when Fur Coat No Knickers opened for business in Feb 2008. Before that we worked in West End theatres as costume supervisors. As far as we’re concerned, there’s little difference between making actors fit for the limelight and making our customers look stunning for their special occassion. Between us we have over 15 year’s experience on shows including The Lion King, Anything Goes, Daddy Cool, Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Bad Girls the Musical and the National Theatre’s Once in a Lifetime and His Dark Materials. We also had the pleasure of working with the fabulous Kim Cattrall who needed fifties outfits for The Cryptogram at the Donmar Warehouse.So you can be certain we know how to give you the star treatment.
