howies makes clothing for mountain bikers, skaters, snowboarders and anyone who likes getting out into the great outdoors. It is a mail order business and conducts its sales through the Internet, 4 legendary catalogues per year and its shop on Carnaby Street.

David and Clare Hieatt started howies back in 1995 from the living room floor of their London flat.
They launched the brand with four t-shirts. They put their thoughts onto these shirts in the belief that if enough people thought like them, they would sell. And sell they did.

David and Clare moved from London in 2001 to Cardigan in West Wales, where they were determined to make their business work in their own way. howies is dedicated to delivering quality clothing that is as low impact as possible, while also encouraging people to think about the world they live in.

From these humble beginnings, the howies brand and reputation has become established in the active sport market to be one of the most respected and sought-after labels in the UK. howies has an Earth Tax pledge, which sees 1% of turnover or 10% of pre-tax profit go to grass-root and environmental projects.

The range is made up of organic cotton, recycled polyester, merino wool, bamboo and hemp. All their legwear in the Spring /Summer 2008 collection, is made from organic cotton. They have an extensive range of T-shirts, sweats, underwear, jumpers, shirts, skirts, dresses and jackets in organic cotton also.
