Masala means spice - the very heart and soul of Indian cooking.
Masala Zone is the latest offering from Nameeta Panjabi and Ranjit Mathrani, the couple behind Chutney Mary in Chelsea and Veeraswamy in Regent Street. The restaurant is the result of a passion to present the real flavours of India at very affordable prices. It is innovative, casual, friendly and fun.
Their continued success in Carnaby has lead to another restaurant being opened in Islington on Upper Street
The modern Indian food at Masala Zone takes as its starting point the traditional Indian emphasis on balanced meals, fresh vegetables and healthy eating, and adds an exciting dash of spice. Nameeta Panjabi has bought together and honed the talents of several accomplished specialist chefs, including vegetarian chefs from Gujarat and North India, whose religious convictions have required a separate vegetarian kitchen exclusively for them.
They present an exciting combination of flavours and offerings:
Thalis from Gujarat with North Indian meat add-ons
Indian street food from Lucknow in North India
Curry and rice plates from North India
Curried noodles
Sandwiches and salads at lunch
There is also a Food to Go counter to enable customers to come in and buy the delicious range of street food, salads, noodles, curry and rice plates to enjoy off the premises.
Average prices: 9 - 15
