As part of the PlatformLDN hub this June 23, Julie Adenuga & Maya Jama will be hosting their pop up COLLECTIONS. Shop new and exclusive pieces donated by your favorite artists and entertainers with 100% of profits donated to The Big Issue.
We caught up with Julie in a 60 interview to find out everything you need to know about COLLECTIONS and their pop-up at Soho Music Month.
What sparked your interest in sustainable fashion, any top tips?
Going from someone who would cry their eyes out for a new pair of trainers that my parents couldn’t afford to owning 70 pairs (including some I’ve never worn) really opened up my eyes. It annoyed me that there were things I had that other people could put to better use and after speaking to Maya about it & finding out she felt the same way, we wanted to find the most efficient way to make that happen.
What appealed to you about bringing COLLECTIONS UK to Soho this year?
The shop works best the more people know about it & what better place to shout about fundraising than in the heart of London
What can we expect from your pop up event at Platform LDN? Any big names we should be looking out for?
Maya & I have been texting our music friends, our favourite radio presenters, actors & even supermodels! We’re hoping to have some stuff for everybody in there!
What else are you looking forward to during Soho Music Month?
I’m excited about exploring & discovering new musicians/projects that I don’t know about yet and also delving deeper into artists that I’m a huge fan of
What’s next for COLLECTIONS.?
To continue to build our catalogue of donators and get the clothes to the people that really want them - raise as much funds as possible and then get those funds to the people that really need them.
