For the whole month of June, Carnaby united with This Is Soho to celebrate Soho Music Month in line with #SoundsLikeLondon. To celebrate the area’s rich music heritage, we hosted a free music and culture festival in venues across Carnaby and Soho.
Highlighting some of the best in established and emerging talent that London has to offer, we saw a hot line up of free live music, workshops and live broadcasting. Our free-entry Soho Music Month hub and exhibition space, ‘PLATFORM LDN’ at 3 Carnaby Street was the place to be for a variety of free events; think a Reprezent Radio residency with live broadcasts, a panel event with GRM Daily, and exclusive book signings with legendary DJ Jumping Jack Frost and BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra’s DJ Target, to name a few. Soho Music Month was in line with the Mayor of London's Sounds Life London initiative, which champions London's world class music offer. Find out more here.
Every Thursday evening throughout the month of June, people joined us for ‘The Newburgh Quarter Sessions’ - a series of free outdoor gigs dedicated to showcasing the diversity of the London music scene. Each session was held under ‘The Plug’ on Foubert’s Place in the Newburgh Quarter from 5-9pm where we saw the hottest new upcoming talent and sunshine. Click here to see the artists that came.
Exclusively for Soho Music Month we also held free guided walking tours, covering the areas music hostory from which famous music magazine had their HQ on Carnaby, to checking out the infamous (What’s the Story?) Morning Glory Oasis album cover on Berwick Street.
Some of your favourite stores also got involved with loads of exclusive launches and events throughout June, from Shinola and Paul Smith to MOSCOT and Kua 'Aina.
