Inject some creativity into your household with some help from a selection of Carnaby brands. The area has long been known as the creative hub of London - from fabric shops to contemporary fashion brands - so where better to look for inspiration.
Cutting-edge fashion label RÆBURN has launched an exclusive pattern with instructions to create your very own DIY Shark Mascot, encouraging those working from home or self-isolating to embrace RÆBURN’s three C’s - craft, creativity and community - as part of the #RaeburnAtHome series. Use a sewing machine or stitch it together by hand, then stuff your shark with whatever you can find, and don’t forget to share an image of your shark using the hashtag #sharetheshark and #RaeburnAtHome, tagging @raeburn_design. Also in the series is a collection of 'Connect The Dots' animals to draw as well as RÆBURN Connects; a thought-provoking and open discussion with a range of expert hosts collaboratively addressing topics from the future of retail, fashion education and learnings from the pandemic.
Christopher Raeburn, Creative Director says:
‘RÆBURN prides itself on Craft, Creativity and above all Community – our new #RaeburnAtHome initiative stands for just that. We released our iconic Shark and Panda Mascot patterns in a bid to keep folks learning, creating, and to raise a smile during a challenging time. If you're looking for ways to keep busy, then now is the ideal chance to pull out those irreparable garments of scrap fabrics and give them new life. Making is human nature – so we hope our contribution is just that bit of encouragement for all.’
RÆBURN has also partnered with fabric dye company Dylon to demonstrate how discoloured garments (that have been living at the back of your wardrobe) can be brought to life with some dye. Head over to RÆBURN’s Instagram to see their easy guide on how to upcycle some older garments using fabric dye to create a whole new look.
