Bringing the big bold flavours of Sri Lankan cuisine to Carnaby
Owners of Kolamba, Eroshan and Aushi Meewella, believe that the best food is home-cooked, a belief that is translated through signature dishes which pay tribute to the family and friends behind some of their most memorable meals on the island.
From the ‘bites’ section, Aunty Nalini has contributed her much-loved recipes for “fish cutlets” and “patties”, inspired by tea-time snacks. Try the Sambols (fresh salads made with local vegetables) to complement large plates. Also on the menu are iconic staples such as pol sambol, a fiery chilli-coconut combination as well as the punchy seeni sambol, made of caramelised onion with curry leaves and finished with a dash of chilli.
The menu features many vegetarian and naturally vegan dishes, reflecting the creative way vegetables and fruits are used in Sri Lanka, including Kumar’s pineapple curry and an island favourite ‘Ala Thel Dala’ – richly spiced potatoes softened and fried with onions and chilli.
